If you have ever used a real remote computer system like Citrix, then you have probably been craving multiple Remote Desktop sessions since you first fired up Windows XP Professional and/or Media Center Edition. Here is a HACK (translated: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK), to enable multiple Remote Desktop sessions on your XP:

NOTE: You will have to have knowledge of the Windows operating system and more specifically the Windows Registry. If you have no experience with the registry, then I would recommend you find someone who does or leave these alone. I do not make any kind of warranty that this will work for you or your friends. This is provided for entertainment purposes only. Don’t call me if your computer stops working. Got it?

1. Print these directions so that you have them to work from.
2. Restart your computer in Safe Mode - Follow this link to learn how to restart Windows XP in Safe Mode
3. Turn off/disable Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) and Terminal Services

1. Right click My Computer
2. Select Properties
3. Click on the Remote tab at the top of the window
4. UNCHECK the box next to, “Allow users to connect remotely to this computer“
5. Click OK
6. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
7. Find Terminal Services in the list
8. Right click on Terminal Services and click Properties
9. In the Startup Type box, select Disabled
10. Click OK to close the window

# Next you will replace the current version of the Terminal Services DLL (termsrv.dll) with an unrestricted version from a previous release of Terminal Services.

1. Here is a copy of the Terminal Services DLL - Save it to your Desktop or other suitable location
2. Using a file manager like Windows Explorer open C:\Windows\system32\dllcache
3. Rename the file termsrv.dll to termsrv_dll.bak or whatever you would like.
4. Copy the downloaded termsrv.dll file (the one you just downloaded from the web) to C:\Windows\system32\dllcache
5. Open the C:\Windows\system32 folder
6. Delete the file termsrv.dll in C:\Windows\system32

# Now we can edit the Windows Registry to enable more than one RDP connection. Go to Start -> Run and type regedit - Hopefully you knew that already
# Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Licensing Core
# Add a DWORD Key named EnableConcurrentSessions and give it a value of 1
# Close the Registry Editor window
# Go to Start -> Run and type gpedit.msc to run the Group Policy Editor
# Browse to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Terminal Services and double click Limit number of connections
# Select the Enabled button and enter the number of connections you would like to enable….at least 2.
# Restart Windows
# Right click My Computer and select Properties.
# Click on the Remote tab at the top of the window
# CHECK the box next to, “Allow users to connect remotely to this computer“
# Click OK
# Go to Start -> Control Panel ->Administrative Tools -> Services. Select Terminal Services from the list and double click it or right-click -> Properties. Set the Startup Type to Manual.

# Restart Windows/Computer

Sejak Qwords bebenah diri dan mendirikan kantor offline
webblog saya sempat tidak terurus, dari tempat hosting dns yang inaccessible sampe setting dns yang salah, sehingga menyebabkan akses terhadap webblog ini terganggu. Jangan kaget waktu membuka webblog ini akan keluar sebuah halaman web dari sebuah fakultas/sekolah di sebuah perguruan tinggi terkenal di bandung.
Sebetulanya kesalahan ini sudah saya sadari sejak awal, tetapi karena kesibukan saya untuk segera menyelesaikan tesis yang sudah memburu waktu, saya tidak sempat untuk membenahinya, tetapi hari ini saya punya waktu luang di sela2 kerjaan di kantor sehingga saya bisa membuat webblog saya ini online kembali.

SSH merupakan aplikasi yang aman untuk melakukan remote server, terutama pada server berbasis Unix, walaupun sekarang telah ada ssh server untuk Microsoft .aka. windows, cuma fasilitas ini tidak populer untuk windows hehe..

Aplikasi SSH ini sangat bermanfaat untuk seorang Network Administrator atau System Administrator
untuk melakukan configurasi server atau peralatan jaringan yang bisa dilakukan secara remote, selama ini apabila saya ingin melakukan hal tersebut saya harus melalui komputer/laptop, akan tetapi sejak adanya barang yang bernama M600i dari SE dimana OS yang terinstall pada barang tersebut adalah Symbian OS UIQ3.

Secara default aplikasi yang terinstall pada barang ini tidaklah banyak, jadi apabila ingin melakukan remote server dengan menggunakan SSH kita perlu menginstall ssh client, untuk itu yang saya kenal adalah putty, setelah cukup lama saya menunggu akhirnya muncullah aplikasi tersebut yang berbasis OS Symbian UIQ3, apabila ada yang minat dapat mendownload disini.

Untuk pengalaman saya dalam mempergunakan SSH tersebut tunggu di postingan blogs saya berikut nya

Perwalian online, benar atau tidak istilah ini dipergunakan, yang pasti sejak awal tahun ajaran 2005/2006 semester 2 istilah ini mulai dikenal dikalangan kampus ITB baik itu dosen atau mahasiswa. Dulunya perwalian ini dilakukan dengan adanya tatap muka langsung antara dosen wali dan mahasiswa, dalam proses tatap muka tersebut yang penting adalah adanya interaksi antara dosen wali dan mahasiswa yang bersangkutan.
Saya sebetulnya sangat menyambut baik adanya perwalian online, karena semuanya cukup dilakukan didepan komputer yang tersambung ke jaringan kampus ITB, tetapi situs ini tidak dapat diakses selain dari IP address kampus ITB, tetapi hal ini dapat diatasi dengan adanya fasilitas VPN (Virtual Privat Network) dari layanan kampus ITB (USDI/AI3), tetapi akan menghadapi kendala apabila kita berada pada jaringan kantor yang melakukan pemblokan terdapat akses VPN.
Dari seluruh perwalian online ini ada bagian dimana saya selaku mahasiswa harus antri untuk mengambil lembaran KSM (Kartu Studi Mahasiswa), nah istilah online disini menjadi agak buyar ketika kita tetap harus melakukan pekerjaan fisik seperti melakukan tanda tangan di KSM, yang selanjutnya dicap oleh bagian akademik.
Sebenarnya hal-hal offline seperti tanda tangan dan cap bisa dihilangkan, suatu saat nanti. sehingga sudah tidak ada hal-hal offline yang diperlukan hanya untuk pendaftaran ulang semester.

Java Jazz Festival merupakan festival jazz terbesar ditanah air, seingat saya ada juga jakjazz dan festival-festival jazz yang bergengsi lainnya. Saya teringat akan kata adhy, javajazz festival tidak “merakyat” maksudnya merakyat disini adalah murah, yang saya baca dari Wikipedia bahwa jazz merupakan musik kaum kulit hitam Amerika-Afrika pinggiran yang kemudian di adopsi oleh kulit putih amerika.

Saya teringat Java Jazz Festival tahun kemarin (2006 red) yang kebetulan saya hadir pada hari terakhir, karena ingin banget nonton live performace nya Bob James, saya inget waktu tahun kemarin itu ada paket kalo beli dua tiket dapet diskon 35% atau 50% (saya lupa) untuk tiket kedua sehingga untuk 2 tiket bisa dibeli dengan harga 400ribuan.. saya lupa tepatnya berapa. Tapi untuk Java Jazz 2007 promo tersebut tidak ada lagi bisa dilihat dari pricelist yang pada link ini.

Dari pengalaman nonton Java Jazz Festival 2006 membuat saya untuk berfikir kembali untuk menonton Java Jazz Festival 2007, selain harga tiket yang cukup mahal bagi kantong saya, paling kurang kita harus mengeluarkan ongkos transport Bandung - Jakarta - Bandung (bensin + tol), yang notabene saya tinggal di Bandung, bayar parkir yang tidak murah dan yang paling males adalah bayar jatah preman yang paling kurang minta Rp.10000 per sekali parkir.

Yang akan saya ingat terus adalah kata-kata temen saya adhy “musik jazz tidak merakyat” tapi ga semua koq, kita masih dapat nonton JGTC murah meriah.

Setelah sekian lama menggunakan Nucleus sebagai engineen untuk blog saya, akhirnya saya memutuskan untuk mempensiunkan Nucleus dan menggantinya dengan Wordpress.

Wordpress sendiri sudah cukup lama saya mengenal mahluk tersebut, cuma koq rasanya kurang sreg aja menggunakannya, tetapi setelah saya timbang-timbang, I think I must try this things… and this is my blogs using Wordpress.
